What is 1045 chrome plated bar?
1045 chrome plated bar is also called 1045 chrome bar or 1045 chrome rod for short sometimes, it is the hard chrome plated shafts made of steel grade SAE 1045.
The 1045 chrome plated rod is a medium carbon steel with the SAE 1045 specification that is supplied in a polished, chrome plated and final polished condition. It has a tensile strength range of 670 to 800 Mpa and a yield strength of around 520 Mpa (75Ksi).
The SAE 1045 steel is equivalent to the German standard CK45 or C45, making the 1045 chrome plated rod also known as CK45 chrome plated bar or CK45 Chrome rod.

The steel bars are grinded, polished and chrome plated, the surface quality is like below.
- Hard Chrome Plated Thickness:
Typically, our 1045 chrome plated rod comes with a minimum chrome plating thickness of 20 microns (0.0008 inches) unless specified otherwise by the customer.
And the max chrome plating thickness we can make is 60microns.
Our factory’s chrome bars can pass the salt spray tested to at least 48 hours in accordance with ASTM B-117. - Surface roughness:
Our CK45 chrome plated bar boasts a smooth surface finish with a roughness of around Ra0.2μm (8 Ra) and a maximum roughness of Ra0.4μm (16 Ra).
